HowTo: Formatting your signature

Some of us have put links, phrases or pictures in their signatures. Sometimes the signature looks nice, sometimes not, in my opinion.

Just a few tips: Formatting your signature follows the same rules as formatting a post. When editing your profile, you don't have any buttons like when making a new post, so you have to put them in by hand or you simulate making a new post, format your text and copy it into the signature box in your profile.
Be aware that your signature has a maximum lenght of 256 characters (so better first copy your text into a empty txt-file).

The one above leads to the same results (same links). "viewtopic.php?t=xxxxx" leads to the first post on the first page of the thread. If you want to lead to let's say page 11, add "&start=150".

The number is the result of 15 posts/page x number of pages, the first one isn't counted. If you want to link to a specific post, move the cursor on the small post icon at the left above corner of each post

and copy this link.

Now let's start formatting:
A normal clickable link consists of the name and the link behind the name, normally both are identical:

By using this [url]-tags you can put a link behind the description of your thread in your signature:

Now text is shown instead of the link, but it is still clickable. The text can be formatted as you like:

But think of the 256 character limit. You can use tinyurl to make the "http://forumohilia ..." smaller, that may save you some characters.
