We've all had (or eventually will have) files reported to RS. What method do you use to keep RS from recognizing the file when re-uploading it?

These particular videos were put in a folder along with the screen-cap and then split with 7-zip.

I usually just rename the file, and repack it with a different compression setting to try to get a different-sized file than the original upload.

In a few cases, that hasn't worked, though, and I've had to add a non-related 'bonus vid' to the rar pack.

Being sneaky is hard work, isn't it? Wink

Some of you already know this, but some of you dont. RS can blacklist files from being on their servers. This is done with a file "finger print".
When someone uploads a file to RS and it gets removed due to copyright protection sometimes the file is placed on RS's blacklist. This means if i upload "fileX" and it gets blacklisted, i will not be able to upload it again, or anyone for that matter unless they manipulate the file's HASH (fingerprint). Changing the file name DOES NOT change the HASH, so that will not work. Some of you will add a blank text document or an extra picture to change the hash. This works, but it can be quite time consuming.

Insert: The Russian Hash FUCKER program.

A simple RIGHT CLICK on the file you want to change the HASH is all it takes with this little program.

Here's the site:
Code:

However, i suggest that you use my copy. It contains some pix and will tell you how to use it (i think)

I fool with the name. You will notice that for the sets I'm uploading right now I've changed the letter "o" to a Zero "0". This will help prevent any person or bot searching google or any other search engine from finding them. That's a simple way to do it. What the person above me posted sounds good too.

The website you mention doesn't say anything about changing the hash, just checking it.

How does it work? To change the hash you have to change the contents of the file don't you?

That's irritating me: you use compression when packing videos. Don't do that. Videos are alreday compressed (by their codec) and the result is mostly only a few kb smaller, but you need more time to pack (and unpack) the file. So better just store (no compression).

But to the topic: Since i'm always packing my vids with WinRAR, it depends on the file size. If they are under 200Mb (single part rar) i just add the preview pic into the rar. Other posters add a small txt file called delete.me or space.txt, whatever.
When using WinRAR you can add "recovery information", but everything that makes the file larger than only a few kb is useless imo.
If the file is bigger than 200Mb (means you get part1.rar and so on) i just alter the split-file limit (from maybe 200.000.004 to .005).
There are also some tools around that just change a single bit in your video, and that's enough to fool the RS-upload filter.
And you can just alter the timestamp of the vid (by using maybe "PropertiesPlus", give you an extra utem in the file context menue), just set the date to the actual time, repack it and you can upload it again without changing more.

Im not sure the science how it works. All i know is that it does work. It was explained to me that it changes the fingerprint.

I think I'll try Loui's idea of changing the split file's size. That should change the checksum/hash value of the individual files without altering the original file. And for good measure I'll rename the folder I'm splitting.

Will report back tomorrow...

Thanks for the replies,

yes, that will work to. But that is a lot of work unpacking and repacking. Your best bet is use this program, but if you dont want to simply insert and blank txt file into your archives or a jpeg will do. It will change the file size including the hash.

one more thing, for Herge "Art sets, avoid using the word "hegre" in the file name. I believe it's an automatic block.

Well, in another 210 posts (VIP) you'll see that I'm not afraid of a little work Wink

Besides, I always delete the split files after I upload them, so I'll have to re-split the original vidoes anyway.

Good news:
Renaming and then splitting the file into smaller 95mb chunks worked. Yippy!

Bad news:
Now this is just hilarious. My posts with the reported links have the screen caps added as an attachment so I can’t edit them to put in the new links without getting the dreaded “500 server error”. Crap!
