Converting takes time and the quality mostly gets worse, so if you can't play *flv, think of installing the needed codec so you can play it MediaPlayer or whatelse. Use a tool called GSpot

to find out which codec is used in the *flv, and then maybe use ffdshow-filter to play them.

If you don't want to convert, maybe try "flv extract",
which demuxes audio and video to seperate streams. Then you can edit them with VirtualDub. But you need the videocodec to play it, so if you don't want to install them, converting is the best choice. Before converting, have a look at the files resolution and bitrate (use GSpot).
