I use GOM player as my main video player and VLC for the videos that don't play in GOM. They're both very good players. For audio I use the basic windows media player, but hardly ever see it because I run it through Foxytunes on Firefox.

If Winamp 2.81 doesn't play it, I go to VLC 1.0. Occasionally I'll run into a file that doesn't play right in either of those, so I'll run it through Media Player Classic to see if it goes. If none of those work , I try to re-encode the file and run the circle again. After that? Delete!

Forgot to say Bose mainly for speakers wirelessly connected to my i-tunes library.
Do not play CDs except when driving.
Rarely use the DVD recorder/player, its main purpose is to collect dust hoping one day it might become a discussion item...

For the longest time I used both WMP and VLC, I've just decided to associate VLC with everything since not everything opens in WMP.

Since i installed these ffdshow-filters nearly everything plays in the normal WMP. And i think it has the best features for adjusting brightness and contrast while playing.

For video, most of the time, I use Media Player Classic that comes with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and for audio I use Creative Mediasource because I have Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro Wink

For videos I just started using BS Player Pro after unhappy stints with Windows Media Player and Winamp. So far very good, plays just about *anything* very robust and intuitive interface.

For audio Winamp and for video mostly Media Player Classic, VLC for flv-files, Quicktime for some old mov-files and since a week Windows Media Player 12 (Win7). The last one plays mp4 without installing a codec.
