Fonzz, first, thanks for your detailled answer...

PAG is harder than the picture number game, but i will think of it... In fact, you have to make an association and find a picture with your idea.... But maybe this picture doesn't exist... I will see...

For the picture hosting, i'd prefer not to register in a new site... But if you say the problem we are facing is forever, maybe i'll change my mind...

I have no idea, but I wouldn't doubt if they don't fix it. All those thousands of pictures must be taking up tons of room on their servers. I really don't know how that works though so if I'm wrong I hope someone fills us in on how it works.

Yes, seems we have problems with the server, therefore large (and I mean really large posts) and attachments aren't possible at the moment.

Svinto told me that at least 80 GB of attachments are stored at the server's hard drive and he informs GS about this problem (GS is the only person with physical access to the server).

Can take a while, until this problem is solved.

In the meantime everyone should use an (allowed) external image hoster and avoid to publish (far too large) posts.

I can't even attach small pix - - like 45 kb -- directly.

Maybe I'll have to try one of the pic host things...

When the server gets corrected how will we know? If we check back at this thread... I presume someone will post when it's up again?

if it is possible again to use the server as filehost you will see it in other posts.

Image hosting is great if your too damn lazy to zip your photo sets and host them for free like on rapidshare, you put all these images from a set into a post and then I must click each one go to the hosting site and hit file save as, to me I don't do this, its a waste of my time to get photo sets this way, besides I post an attachment of 1 to 2 photos so people know what is in the zip file they download, and also as an attachment free users(not logged in) can not see them, you must be logged in to view attachmnets. Any free user can view your images and click on them, I like to keep it to users of this forum to know what is in my posts...

Posting just a few images I can see hosting elsewhere but I also find it easier when I post to just add an attachment instead of having to upload to another source, get the link and copy it into my post, I got lots to post and don't have the time to bounce back and forth... Having the attachment feature is a great plus for me... I am not going to attach 121 photos , just one and a link to the set for downloading, besides do you want to bounce all around trying to make a post when its all in one place? like here. We just have to wait it out... I like to keep it simple and thats my opion anyway...

Maybe we should all go back to our posts, edit them and replace the photo attachments to smaller ones or hotlink thumbnails. I did edit some of mine. One mod is getting cranky about these photos, he even took out one that was probably 100 pixels over the limit and the height is way below. It was in landscape format. Even if we free some space, it will be filled up again. A good solution would be to get a bigger/faster server or do serious housekeeping like deleting everything over 1 year old. Those posts are useless anyway, the links are all dead.

Image hosting is way a lot more work, dealing with all those pop up windows is a bitch.

Guys got same problems, cause it can take any time to fix

It takes a while of reason my "rusty" and current bad english, that im found hoster who provides direct display.

Use Imagevenue (don`t know if other allowed support) and copy past the 2nd link in your post

I guess you've never heard of image grabber, a firefox extension that does all the work for you and works great!

Idea I'm sure I can find some links that are over one year old that still work.

About a month ago I did a reformat on this computer and decided to give that thing a try after seeing someone mention it in here. I tried one like it a couple of years ago and never did get it to work, but this one works great! I just couldn't believe how easy it was. I tried it out at a couple of tgp sites and all it took was a couple of clicks and everything was downloaded in a matter of seconds.

I used an image cruncher on every image I posted here to get their size down, but even if we all crunched our images it would just be a matter of time before the space was filled up again.

Does anyone know if there was (or is) a limit as to how much room on the server each poster could use for images? Perhaps a limit for each person would be solution.

That happens only if your message is (far) too long at the moment.

Try to post fewer clips/sets per post, and don't post full sets hosted solely on external image hoster. Post a few previews and host the full set as rar/zip on a file hoster.
