What are the odds he gets into the Hall of Fame? Twisted Evil A lifetime ban should be a lifetime ban. There is one cardinal sin in baseball; you don't bet on baseball. He broke it and he's done. Simple as that. He called into question the integrity of the game by betting on baseball. If you have a predetermined outcome, you have professional wrestling (or boxing Wink ).

I'm a hardass when it comes to this sort of thing. He knew the rules and he knew what the consequences would be and he did it anyway. Keep him out. I would keep anyone who has been convicted of or admitted to steroid use out too.

Here's the thing, if he was truly remorseful and hadn't been a prick for 20 years about this, I would consider letting him back in. He denied, denied, denied, and then when it was proven conclusively that he did, he didn't take full responsibility for his actions. It's like a parole hearing. If the convict isn't remorseful, and is belligerent, he's not getting paroled. Same rules apply to Pete Rose.
