I keep hearing it's waiting for the big fall and it will take your money with them.

Anyone know where's they're based?

In these days of uncertainty, I would only go for a month subscription to start with. I've lost 4 premium accounts in the last year, so I'm done buying long subscriptions.

I think you really do need a good download speed if you're paying premium, and if it's not there then what's the point?

Luckily, my three-month Oron subscription ended the day BEFORE the site came down. I was lucky there, but I lost money on Fileserve.

A word of warning here from their web site:

'When you buy a monthly Premium access, you sign up for auto renewal. This means that after every 30 days billing will automatically charge money from your account and your premium access will be extended. In this case unnecessary to worry that your premium account will expire - everything happens automatically for your comfort. At the same time, you always can unsubscribe of auto renewals.

On "My Account" you press "Profile", goes to "Modify account settings " and press "Other"
There is an option on this screen where you can disable the recurring payment...

I like rapidgator. Their download speeds are great for premium users. My fear is that they will collapse just like Oron though. It seems like there is a trend now of file hosts dying.
